It is nice to go away…but even nicer to get home – especially when you return with an award.
John Scott (Hotel Manager) and I have just returned from not so sunny Marbella and the Best Western National Conference.
Along with a packed conference programme (I have to say that so that the team back in Kendal don’t think I have been skiving) we both attended the Gala Dinner on Monday night where the Best Western Awards were presented. None of the nominations are announced in advance so it is always tense but we need not have worried.
Out of seven awards we were shortlisted in no less than three.
The Jean Webb Award rewards the team member who most positively represents the Best Western brand and our very own superstar, Leona, was nominated but missed out on the gong. Never mind, she still has her immortalisation on Undercover Boss to fall back on.
The Venues Award recognises the best conference venues in the group as recommended by conference clients and booking agents. We were one of three shortlisted but again missed out…not to worry Debbie, there is always next year!
However, when it comes down to a reflection of the whole team for the most important element of the hotel experience what better than the coveted Best Customer Care Award. The award is assessed from customer letters to Best Western Hotels’ central office, electronic customer reviews and Tripadvisor – and we won! We beat 270 other hotels in the UK to secure the best customer care rating.
Well done to everyone at The Best Western Castle Green and thank you to our customers who made it possible by giving their feedback.
Back to that weather…it rained solidly from Saturday to Tuesday and a delegate trip had to be turned back when the road was closed due to snow. In recognition of the Spanish weather we had our photos taken today on the freezing outside balcony of The Castle Green – no change there then!
