We had a very special visitor staying overnight with us on Tuesday, an AA inspector - though we didn't know until Wednesday morning!
For those of you in the hospitality, or any other business that gets regular inspections for that matter, you can empathise with us that this can be very stressful and to add to the tension we were going for four stars!
To those of you who visit us regularly and know our levels of service, quality of facilities and food you may think we were four star already, but like every exam you still have to pass it, and with flying colours we did!
The inspector commented that ' Overall, a highly positive visit resulting in the recommendation of 4 Stars with an AA Merit score of 77% the hotel met with expectations at this level and has much to commend.'
. . . .and about our food - 'Food is a highlight of any stay. Quality and imagination is evident in the dishes sampled. The award of 2 Rosettes will be retained. Breakfast buffet was very well presented & offered a choice that exceeded expectation.'
Our merit score of 77% is above average, but we're a competitive bunch at Castle Green so we're aiming for 80% when the inspector next visits, but hopefully that won't be for a while!
