A challenge too far . . .?

Posted Tuesday, 27 April 2010, 11.06am

As part of the national Best Western 'Hotels with Personality' relaunch, the Management Team at Castle Green were challenged by the staff to give up their usual jobs for in favour of another department for the day.

Les (Pub Manager) worked a morning on Reception, whilst John (Deputy General Manager) and Grace (Personnel Manager) assisted housekeeping in cleaning rooms and linen portering.

Directors Tim (MD) and Julie (Finance Director) swapped their business suits for chef whites to work in the hotel and pub kitchens respectively. Liz (Sales Manager) was on wash up duty, whilst Laura (Reception Manager), Amanda (Leisure Club Manager), Christine (Banqueting Manager) and Peter (Maintenance Manager) waited tables and manned the bar.

A fun day was had by all as staff took their opportunity to show the managers what life is like 'on the floor'.

Tim had numerous orders for kippers and poached eggs, Liz got to crush cardboard and power wash the bin area whilst Julie had to cut up eight chickens for the lunchtime rush.

Laura from Reception seemed to come out the best though - returning to her normal position with £3.50 in tips!
