Congratulations to one of our many talented chef Andrew Postlethwaite who was named Essential Cuisine’s North West Young Chef. He was delighted to win the competition after finishing runner up last year.
For his starter he cooked a lobster dish followed up by a mutton main course, finishing with summer berries and ice cream
Andrew’s three-course meal was well received by the judges who included Lisa Allen from Northcote Manor Hotel, Thom Hetherington, managing director of Holden Media, and Steven Doherty, chairman of the Gordon Ramsay Scholarship.
Where possible he sourced wild or home grown ingredients, with much being picked from the woods surrounding the hotel.
Andrew was presented with a full set of knives, a weekend away for two and a work experience placement at a European restaurant .
He now goes forward to the national competition at Earls Court in October.
