South Cumbria & Lancaster
A trip south of the hotel can reap many benefits - a littler quieter, but still great scenery and plenty to see.
Arnside & Silverdale - area of outstanding natural beauty
The Arnside area is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. It has sites of scientific interest because of the rare butterflies and alpine plants that may be found around the limestone pavements. You can visit the pretty shops along the promenade or enjoy an ice cream whilst walking on the sands.
RSPB Leighton Moss Nature Reserve
Close to Arnside & Silverdale, Leighton Moss is the largest reedbed in north-west England, and home to some really special birds such as breeding bitterns, bearded tits and marsh harriers.

Home of the famous Eric Morecambe statue, Morecambe has received much needed financial investment in recent years mostly around the promenade which stretches for miles. As well as the obvious photo opportunity with Eric, Morecambe boasts Happy Mount Park (a favourite of my childhood, especially on rare summer days) with minature railway, crazy golf, tennis courts and paddling pool it's a kids dream. www.lancaster.gov.uk
Lancaster
Lancaster is a small, historic university city about 20 miles south of the hotel. If you venture this far Lancaster Castle is a must see. Famous for the trial of the Pendle Witches visitors can experience the Grand Jury and Court Rooms and even be locked in the dungeon!
