There is always something happening in the Lakes to suit all tastes. Some wackier than others but all surrounded by fantastic scenery - what more could you want on a day out!

The county has many agricultural shows and sheep dog trials throughout the summer months, exhibitions of all types, fun days for kids and for the whole family. Visit the Go Lakes website to find out what's on when you're planning to visit.

Windermere Lake Cruises

A must if you've never been to the area before. Cruise up to Ambleside and enjoy the scenery and enjoy a walk around before the gentle journey back. Perfect if you want to leave the car in one place and the driver can enjoy the view too! Windermere Lake Cruises sail throughout the year.

Beatrix Potter

One of our most famous exports. Her house at Hilltop is only open in the summer months, but the fantastic Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness is open all year round for you to get your Peter Rabbit fix!

William Wordsworth

Grasmere is the place to head for all things poetic! You can visit William's final resting place, walk through the daffodils, then enjoy some famous Grasmere Gingerbread - the shop is just next door to the cemetery - before heading off to Dove Cottage, the Wordsworth Museum & Art Gallery.

Obviously there are many more things to do in the Lakes, but if this is your first time these are the key things and simply travelling between them will provide you with fantastic scenery to match.
