Autumn Evening Activities in the Lake District

Next week the clocks are shifting forward one hour, meaning the darker evenings are creeping in. And while it’s tempting to see that as an opportunity to snuggle up and hibernate the cold nights away, it’s actually the perfect time to get out and about and see what the Lake District has to offer.

The Silver How Evening Walk is a 5 mile stroll across varied terrain. Hosted by The Lake District Walker, this route is family friendly and offers fantastic views of Grasmere and Langdale, especially at sunset. You’ll begin your tour in either Elterwater or Grasmere, where you will ascend 1300ft up to the top of Silver How.

Dogs are more than welcome, however be mindful that the path crosses through farmland and there are sections where a lead is required. Tickets are £25 per person and can be booked through their website.

Aching for an ale? Take a tour around the Hawkshead Brewery in Staveley. By appointment, you can spend 45 minutes discovering the secrets behind this local legend. Plus, at the end, crack one open with the boys and enjoy a nice cold brew. Tickets are £10 each and free for under 9’s. Sensible footwear is advised.

Or, for some seasonal relaxation, book a stay at Castle Green. When staying with us, you can spend your evening lounging in our bar, indulging in local food from our delicious menu, or relieving any built up tension in our salon where we offer personalised pamper sessions. Our beautiful landscaped gardens are ideal for an after dinner stroll where you can breathe in the crisp Autumn air and witness the rolling fells in the distance shift from vibrant greens into reds, oranges, and yellows.
