Starting to make plans for when the kids are off school for Easter? We know it can be a challenge coming up with new exciting ideas and activities that hold the attention of little ones!
Come and stay for a break with us, after all there’s sooo many great family Easter activities happening in the area…
If during your stay with us you plan on seeing as much of the Lake District as possible we’d recommend taking the scenic 40 minute drive north to Penrith, where you can visit the Rheged Centre. As well as blockbuster films including the new Peppa Pig movie and Captain Marvel there are a variety of workshops throughout the Easter holidays for children. There is an animal encounters workshop, archery and circus skills to name a few.
LITTLE EXPLORERS CLUB
If you’re looking for some entertainment a little closer to the hotel, head down to The Westmorland Shopping Centre in Kendal on April 10th for A Bugs Life, Little Explorers Kids Club. At this free event there will be plenty of craft activities, stories and games. Even an Easter themed treasure hunt! The event will take place between 11 - 4pm.
EASTER EGG WEEKEND
One popular Lake District attraction that many of our guests young and old enjoy visiting is the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. Here visitors can ride on the traditional, restored steam trains, and on Easter weekend (19th - 22nd April) all children who take a train ride receive a free Easter egg!
Another option for Easter weekend is to take the kids to the globally famous, World of Beatrix Potter attraction in Windermere, just a short 20 minute drive from Kendal. The attraction itself is great for children with lots to explore, and on Easter weekend there will be a mini treasure hunt that takes the children all around the grounds including Peter Rabbit's garden.
Alternatively, Sizergh Castle has a fantastic Easter Egg Hunt on Bank Holiday Monday (22nd). Great venue to walk around the gardens and grounds of the Castle and they have a lovely tea shop too. This is the place that the majority of the Castle Green team go!
