2020 is officially the year of reimagining classic styles, and discovering alternative ways to decorate and party!
In the world of wedding design, this year is predicted to bring a laundry list of new trends and changes to how we plan the perfect wedding. We’ve picked our favourite trends of 2020 especially for you!
Make an impact - keep it local
Sustainability and keeping under budget is on a lot of people's minds, especially when it comes to planning a wedding. We’re all looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and plastic use, which is why sustainable weddings are on the rise. As a hotel on the outskirts of the Lake District, we’re constantly looking for ways to protect this beautiful landscape. By making simple swaps while in the organising process we can dramatically reduce our impact on the environment.
One way to help is to choose local suppliers who will provide seasonal flowers, plants, and food. The Lake District is thriving with forna no matter the time of year. So look to create bouquets and centrepieces out of local cuttings and seasonal plants, like Cumbrian eyebrights, globeflowers, and junipers. Or, you can use potted plants that can be given to guests or replanted after the ceremony.
Upcycle your goods
Secondly, do the digging to find raw materials that can be reused after your big day; a tablecloth that can be cleaned and turned into curtains, ornate vases and candle sticks that can be incorporated into your home design, reusable cloth napkins that can be laundered and patched together into a quilt. Make it reusable or recyclable.
A bonus option is to order biodegradable confetti and glitter. Easy to find online, you can still enjoy your grand exit without harming wildlife.
Return of the Rose
We love tradition. The symbol of romance, the rose has been overshadowed in recent years by succulents, lilies, pampas grass and more. And, while they’re beautiful in bouquets, nothing can beat the beauty and simplicity of the iconic rose.
In Winter, go for reds and pure whites for a snow white effect. While in Spring and Summer, match peaches, corals, lemon yellows, and dusky pinks for a pastel formation. Plus, roses are versatile, add that special something to table decor, wedding arches, flower crowns, and buttonholes.
Vegan or Veggie
Whether it’s because of environmental reasons or the diverse range of delicious dishes now available, vegan and vegetarian menus are on the rise. Not just as an option for the attendees with dietary needs, but for the entire wedding party.
There are plenty of Lakeland suppliers that’ll provide produce perfect for vegan meals.
Plus, these meat free meals come with an added interactive feasting style that encourages conversation among guests: including sharing inspired mains and deluxe desserts to be portioned at the table.
